Gabriela has a long history in the spiritual, mental and physical paths. Since childhood, she has shown great sensitivity towards nature, spirituality, and consciousness. Her knowledge of psychology gives her a holistic and comprehensive view of health.
She began practicing yoga when she was seventeen and has since had an interest in healing practices. Shortly after, she became interested in meditation and bioenergetic sciences, which gave way to her affinity to psycho-corporal practices such as yoga, belly dance, and martial arts. She trained Muay Thai (Thai boxing) for many years and eventually reached the third level at Evolution Training Center.
Over the years she has explored various styles of yoga. At 17, she began her formal yogic studies at Centro de Balance Integral Gaia, where she also began her studies in psychology. Also at this center she studied holistic therapies such as shiatsu, body balance, biocommunication, and bio-food.
Her journey as a Reiki practitioner also began at Centro de Balance Integral Gaia, under the guidance of Reiki Master Marianella Ortiz, who inspired her to continue on this path. She trained under Reiki Master Alejandra Cartín and reached the Reiki Master level in 2018.
A year later, Gabriela completed a Hatha yoga teacher training with Juan Pablo Baharahonaand Edgar Ortiz, at the same time beginning her studies in Thai massage with Edgar. She also attended workshops and completed trainings in Hatha yoga, Iyengar yoga, Ashtanga yoga, Jivamukti yoga, Kundalini yoga and Acroyoga, among others. In addition, Gabriela completed a training in Anusara yoga, while also attending various workshops and courses on this style of yoga. Likewise, she completed a children’s yoga training certified by Kidding Around, an American school, as well as, several teacher trainings in Iyengar yoga.
For 6 years, Gabriela studied under Ashtanga Yoga master Matías Flury, and she completed a 500-hour Ashtanga yoga teacher training led by Flury. Matías inspired her to travel to India, where she completed two consecutive yoga teacher trainings by B.N.S. Iyengar, disciple of Krishnamacharya.
Matías also inspired her to study under his teacher Tim Miller. She completed two yoga teacher trainings by Miller in two consecutive years. These trainings focused on Ashtanga yoga Primary and Intermediate Series. She has also learned from other international teachers such as Richard Freeman and Mary Taylor.
Besides the great life lessons that Matías taught her–with love and purity–what she appreciates most about her master is that he introduced her to her guru, Amma, Mata Amritanandamayi Devi, her inspiration and a torch lighting her spiritual path.
Gabriela has imparted classes at different locations since the age of nineteen. She has had the opportunity to teach yoga in highly diverse contexts: yoga and martial arts studios, gyms, to school children and teachers, as part of social work projects (at a women’s prison) and university projects (at community centers and nursing homes), and at a university, as part of her master’s thesis on the psychological effects of Hatha yoga.
She trained in Thai massage and yoga at Yoga Mandir–where she also worked–for six years. During this time she imparted classes and workshops, and assisted and co-taught many yoga teacher training sessions.
From 2009 to the present day, her main focus has been the development of Ashtanga Yoga Satya, by imparting Ashtanga Yoga classes for students of all levels, training teachers, and working in the field of psychology as a holistic therapist, employing all the tools acquired during her career in holistic medicine and comprehensive balance.
